Hi. My name's Rob Schamberger. I'm that guy who paints rasslers. And other stuff. There's definitely, definitely, definitely no logic.
WORDS
The fun thing about Timeless Toni Storm’s look is that it gives me as an artist so much to work with visually. That black and white classic Hollywood vibe is lovely on its own, but as a compositional tool it’s outstanding. Pairing her with someone like Mina Shirakawa, who has such a bright and vibrant and saturated colorful look is pure bliss. Each of them frames the other in the composition, accentuating one another in all of the best ways.
This was a fun one to make. I hope that fun and joy comes through on your end, too!

ARROWHEAD STADIUM ART TOUR
Yesterday afternoon I was invited to tour the art collection at Arrowhead Stadium as a part of a group with the Nelson-Atkins Museum. I’m not a sports guy, so this was actually my first time in the stadium (and probably the last, due to the upcoming move). This was organized by Leopold Gallery, who largely curated the collection originally.

Most of the art was contemporary but there were a few with more of a historical context like the above lithograph of John Brown by John Steuart Curry. This was a study for his mural ‘Tragic Prelude’ which you’ve likely seen before!

This contemporary piece is called ‘War Paint’ by Mark English. I love the colors and movement of it.

This stunning oil painting is called ‘Burn at the Flying W Ranch’ by Louis Copt. He specialized in paintings of controlled burns, building lifelong friendships with area landowners so that he could be there to document when a farmer burns their field, both taking reference and sometimes also doing plein-air studies.
The collection is pretty sizable, but these pieces particularly stood out to me. Here’s everything on display if you’d like to see more.

We also toured a lot of the stadium, including the locker room. Again, I’m not a sports guy but Katy freaked out when I sent her this picture.

And in case you were wondering, this is apparently Taylor Swift’s suite. This was, I kid you not, the first question the ladies in the tour asked about, if we were going to see it.
We saw it.

I wish I had known how easy it is.
FOOD, DUDE!
A few weeks ago I was eating a strawberry popsicle and I wondered if I could make my own. Friend, it’s incredibly easy and SO MUCH BETTER TASTING. Here’s what I did:
1 pound fresh strawberries, stems removed
1 lemon
25 fresh mint leaves
½ cup honey
Put the strawberries, mint leaves and honey in a blender. Then, zest the lemon and juice it into the blender. Blend until smooth. Pour the mix into a popsicle tray and add the sticks. I got one of those nice silicone trays and it works perfectly. Don’t overfill, by the way! These work the same as with an ice cube tray so they can spill over as they freeze.
Allow to freeze for about four hours and then they’re ready. That’s it!
The consistency on these are great and I bet the mix would also work marvelously as a sorbet, if you want to pour it into a freezer-safe dish instead. I also think it’s pretty endlessly customizable. I’m adding blackberries to the next batch, for instance.
Love you more,
Rob
