Hi. My name's Rob Schamberger. I'm that guy who paints rasslers. And other stuff. It's time to cast your spell on the night.

WORDS

Swerve Strickland has definitely become one of my favorite subjects for a painting, going back to him being my first with AEW almost two years ago now. He’s got a great look to begin with, but there’s that charisma factor, the intensity and also that he’s just so dang interesting. It all adds up to give me a lot to work with.

UPCOMING AEW/PWT PRINTS

  • Jon Moxley. It could happen! Within infinite space there’s infinite possibilities.

  • Hechicero

  • Marina Shafir

  • Darby Allin

  • Kazuchika Okada

Card subject to change.

ANNOUNCEMENT

On Sunday I'm going to give details on a charity auction to raise money for Trans Continental Pipeline in light of the utterly awful legislation that has taken effect in Kansas today. I'll do a painting of the top bidder’s choice. We’re the helpers and we show up for each other.

ART I LIKE

An artist whose brain operates at a completely different wavelength than mine is Damion Scott and I love his work. I first saw his work on Batgirl, where his dynamic angles and kinetic characters immediately grabbed my attention.

The character rarely spoke, so the majority of the book relied upon his visual storytelling, and man did he deliver on that. One thing this book never was, was boring. It was a slam-bang action-fest every issue.

He did an issue of the showcase book Solo where he got to really dive into his street art roots, with so much of it done to look like the way a street artist will plan a piece out in their sketchbooks with markers. The Superman piece above is one of those, and it was unlike anything else in the American comic market at the time.

But really it’s his kinetic figure work that keeps my eyes on his work. Like, these characters are MOVING but it’s also still very readable. That’s a tough balance but he makes it sing.

Our Queen

IMPORTANT KIMA UPDATE

We put a tray next to our front window so that Kima can sit there and survey her kingdom. She’ll get angry at any squirrel, rabbit or bird that sets foot in her domain without permission, and Her Royal Highness ain’t handing out permission slips. An adorable authoritarian, to be sure.

The real benefit of having the tray there is when we come home and she’s there watching for us. As we walk up to the house she’ll get excited and jump down to greet us at the door. Totally makes us feel like the most important people to ever exist.

Love you more,
Rob
