Hi. My name's Rob Schamberger. I'm that guy who paints rasslers. And other stuff. Echoed voices in the night.

Something I try to do with my paintings is find a ‘story’ to tell. Sometimes it’s a literal thing, other times it’s about how the color moves across the composition, and with this Julia Hart portrait it’s about how the light is hitting her face. There’s an ethereal glow I emphasized, giving it an otherworldly and supernatural feeling.

Here’s another preview of next week’s Omega/ Okada Wrestling Landscape. The original painting is 30” x 20” and I usually work at 12” x 16” so it’s, y’know, bigger. All of the tools and techniques I’ve learned over my career but especially over the past couple years went into this one and I’m excited for you to see how it turns out!

I made 63 rasslin’ paintings this year. You haven’t seen all of the yet as they either haven’t been unveiled yet or, like, other circumstances beyond my control. Only a couple of those though so that’s not too bad.

I feel like it was my strongest year so far with this subject matter. Normally I only like three or four paintings I make each year but it’s the opposite this time where there’s only a handful that didn’t meet my expectations. That’s a combination of continued growth as an artist and continued growth in therapy, I imagine. They work together.

I try to keep each painting interesting for me and hopefully that translates to their viewers. Based on sales that seems to be the case! Speaking of sales, the charts show that the AEW fanbase continues to connect with these paintings and I couldn’t be more thankful. They keep my lights on and my heart afloat.
