I’m still in the midst of banking up work to get through the end of the year, so let’s have some fun today. Let’s do some fantasy booking!
Even though we’re not at the Royal Rumble yet, it’s feeling like we’re entering WrestleMania season and that’s got me thinking about the main events for both nights of the Greatest Spectacle in Sports Entertainment. So, what do you want to see for the men’s and women’s main events for each night? How do we get there for each?
A few things I want to say up front: These are not pitches to WWE, and I don’t know anything about their creative plans. I’m very public about going out of my way to not know creative directions ahead of time, so that I can enjoy the shows and present to you through my art what we’re all seeing. We’re having fun here. Also: There’s no such thing as a bad idea. Let’s be cool to each other.
I’m opening the comments up again to everyone this week, not just paid subscribers. Let’s all have fun!
MY PICKS:
WOMEN’S NIGHT ONE: Bianca Belair vs Charlotte Flair for the Raw Women’s Championship. Charlotte is the last of the fabled Four Horsewomen that Bianca hasn’t been able to defeat. After winning the Women’s Royal Rumble, Charlotte challenges Bianca to set us up for this major match. I would put a lot of work in the months between the Rumble and ‘Mania building up the mystique of Charlotte in the eyes of the fans and putting her in almost the position of being the Triple H or Undertaker of the women’s division especially when it comes to the Grandest Stage of All. Make this a Very Big Obstacle for Bianca to overcome.
MEN’S NIGHT ONE: Seth Rollins vs Austin Theory for the Intercontinental Championship. A lot of work is being done to make the IC Title not so much the number 2 championship as the 1.5 and I think the story being told between Seth and Theory is doing a lot to help make that happen.
WOMEN’S NIGHT TWO: Sasha Banks and Naomi vs Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai for the Women’s Tag Team Championship. Listen, I want to see my friends again and I want to see them return in a way that elevates this championship in a major way. If this match were to happen, I’d have Sasha and Naomi return at the Elimination Chamber or shortly after to keep anticipation hot.
MEN’S NIGHT TWO: Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship with special guest referee The Rock. After Cody wins the Royal Rumble he makes it known that he’s looking to win this championship to honor his father. Sure, Brock Lesnar couldn’t beat Roman with a got-dang tractor but Cody with only one arm beat Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell, the one man Roman hasn’t been able to beat clean. The American Nightmare is Roman’s biggest threat yet, and he also doesn’t know how loyal to the Bloodline his cousin The Rock will be.
BONUS BOOKING: Roman wins but with extensive help from the Bloodline behind Rock’s back. After the match when Rock sees what happened, he’s disgusted and gives Roman the Rock Bottom setting us up for either SummerSlam or the next WrestleMania!
My wife Katy will tell you all about how I’m notoriously wrong with ALL of my predictions. It’s kind of my thing. I’m sure you’ll do better than me!
Here’s a preview progress shot of the new Usos piece debuting Sunday. See you then!

Love you more,
