Hi. My name's Rob Schamberger. I'm that guy who paints rasslers. And other stuff. Buddy, you're a young man, hard man.

WORDS

Shortly after AEW All In 2025, the company asked me to make a painting of the giant crowd of rabid rasslin’ fans taking in this spectacle. I saw this as a great opportunity on several levels and wanted to make the most of each aspect. First, I’ve been experimenting with a lot of new techniques and color palettes over the past year and I wanted to see how they would all work with a huge and intricate painting like this.

It involves a lot of little details and multiple layers of planning to make each of them work. I had to apply the masking fluid first to preserve the white highlights of the paper, then do a tonal underpainting for the areas that wouldn’t have saturated colors. From there, I needed to figure out at which stages I wanted to lift up the masked areas so that I could get the most out of them. And, of course, get every little piece as right as I could while also making it look like what it is: A handmade painting.

Not the easiest process but it was worth it! I actually committed a month of my schedule to just this piece. I’m damn proud of how it turned out.

From there, I recommended that this should be our Black Friday release and that we should get some high profile signatures on the prints. The fine folks I work with at ShopAEW collected autographs from some people at the center of some big moments from the show itself, and I think that’s meaningful. First, there’s Timeless Toni Storm who successfully defended her title, giving Mercedes Mone her first defeat with AEW. Next up is Kazuchika Okada, who had an absolute classic match against his longtime rival Kenny Omega and came out victorious. Finally, these are also signed by Hangman Adam Page who went through a legendary battle against Jon Moxley to win the AEW World Championship that night. It was a historic event for pro wrestling and now with this print you can commemorate it in a beautiful way.

Not bad.

ART I LIKE

Speaking of architectural watercolors, an artist I’ve been paying attention to lately is Thomas Schaller. So often architectural and/or urban landscapes can be too sterile and without emotion or artistic choices, but Schaller’s work stands in direct contrast to that.

He has gorgeous color palettes and fascinating brush strokes that bring an energy and emotion to his work. Instead of making something look exactly right, he makes it FEEL right. That intrigues me as someone who strives to do the same.

He has a great eye for finding what needs focus in the composition and what can be implied, again giving it the sensation of seeing a scene in real life, versus a sterile photograph of it.

And man, his color choices, especially how he uses warm and cool colors within the composition, is so dead-on perfect to me. I let out a small exhalation sometimes when I see his work, like in the above piece. Lovely, lovely stuff.

Today’s the day!

FOOD, DUDE!

This is a picture from last year’s Thanksgiving meal. We’re having my mom and stepfather over again today and Katy has an exciting new spin on a traditional dish she’s trying out with some French onion mashed potatoes, which should go amazingly with the stuffing waffles. Mom’s bringing over our family’s traditional green bean casserole as well as the family recipe stuffing mix. For leftovers I’ll make some more casserole but with Velveeta because why the hell not. The last of that will go into a quiche on Sunday.

I made a breakfast casserole for us that we’re going to dig through each morning, too.

A new neighbor moved in across the street a few months back and she’s invited us over on Saturday night for a Friendsgiving. She’s from California and is still working to make some friends, so we’re of course going to bring over some stuffing mix and a waffle iron to change her whole life!

No matter how your day is structured today, I hope it’s a good one for you. I’m lucky to have you in my life and I wish you the best, my friend!

Love you more,
Rob
